Volvo Penta V8-380-C DP-S Aquamatic Gasoline Sterndrive Engine

The Volvo Penta Aquamatic V8-380-C DP-S is an integrated sterndrive package combining a 5.3-liter, 8-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine, with catalyst and broadband oxygen sensors, and the twin-propeller Duoprop DPS drive. It is freshwater cooled.

The cylinder block, cylinder head and cast oil pan are aluminum and the pistons light and low-friction, so the engine and drive make a compact package that is simpler to install. Direct spark-ignition fuel injection enables a high compression ratio, and variable valve timing tunes valve movement to engine speed and load across the rev range.

Seawater is kept out of the engine by the closed freshwater cooling loop, reducing internal corrosion. The Easy Drain system drains the raw-water side in a few minutes, and its anti-siphon valve allows this with the boat still afloat. Electronic engine control, a lightweight aluminum exhaust, an integrated kick-up function and easy-access service points round out the package.
