Volvo Penta V8-300A-C SX Aquamatic Gasoline Sterndrive Engine

The Volvo Penta Aquamatic V8-300A-C SX is an integrated sterndrive package with a 5.3-liter, 8-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine, a catalyst and broadband oxygen sensors, matched to a single-propeller SX drive. The engine is freshwater cooled.

An aluminum cylinder block and head, light low-friction pistons and a cast-aluminum oil pan keep the engine and drive compact, easing installation. Direct spark-ignition injection supports a high compression ratio, and variable valve timing adjusts the valve events to engine speed and load for torque throughout the rev range.

Closed-loop freshwater cooling keeps seawater out of the engine's interior, reducing internal corrosion. The Easy Drain system drains the raw-water side in a few minutes through an anti-siphon valve, with the boat still in the water. Electronic engine control, a lightweight aluminum exhaust, an integrated kick-up function and easy-access service points are included in the design.
