Volvo Penta V6-280A-CE-PD-S Aquamatic Gasoline Sterndrive Engine

The Volvo Penta Aquamatic V6-280A-CE-PD-S combines a 4.3-liter, 6-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine with a catalyst and the twin-propeller Duoprop DPS drive in one integrated sterndrive package. Cooling is by a closed freshwater system.

Aluminum is used for the cylinder block, cylinder head and cast oil pan, and the pistons are light and low-friction, so the engine-and-drive package stays compact and easier to install. Direct spark-ignition injection supports a high compression ratio, and variable valve timing matches intake and exhaust valve movement to engine speed and load.

The closed freshwater cooling circuit keeps seawater away from the engine internals to limit corrosion. Easy Drain empties the raw-water system in a few minutes, and an anti-siphon valve means it can be done afloat. Electronic engine control, a lightweight aluminum exhaust, an integrated kick-up function and service points placed for easy access are part of the package.
