Volvo Penta V6-280-C SX Aquamatic Gasoline Sterndrive Engine

The Volvo Penta Aquamatic V6-280-C SX is an integrated sterndrive package that combines a 4.3-liter, 6-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine with a single-propeller SX drive. The engine runs on closed-loop freshwater cooling.

The aluminum cylinder block and cylinder head, light low-friction pistons and cast-aluminum oil pan keep the package compact and make installation simpler. Direct spark-ignition injection permits a high compression ratio, and variable valve timing sets intake and exhaust valve movement for engine speed and load across the rev range.

Because seawater is kept out of the engine by the closed freshwater circuit, internal corrosion is reduced. Easy Drain empties the raw-water side in a few minutes, and an anti-siphon valve allows draining with the boat in the water. Electronic engine control, a lightweight aluminum exhaust, an integrated kick-up function and easy-access service points are part of the package.
