Volvo Penta V6-280-C DP-S Aquamatic Gasoline Sterndrive Engine

The Volvo Penta Aquamatic V6-280-C DP-S is an integrated sterndrive package built around a 4.3-liter, 6-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine with a catalyst. The engine is freshwater cooled and turns the twin-propeller Duoprop DPS drive.

An aluminum cylinder block and cylinder head, light low-friction pistons and a cast-aluminum oil pan make the engine and drive a compact unit that is easier to install. Direct spark-ignition fuel injection allows a high compression ratio, and variable valve timing adjusts the valve events to engine speed and load for torque across the rev range.

Closed-loop freshwater cooling keeps seawater from circulating inside the engine, limiting internal corrosion. Easy Drain drains the raw-water side in a few minutes, and its anti-siphon valve allows this with the boat afloat. Electronic engine control, a lightweight aluminum exhaust, an integrated kick-up function and service points within easy reach complete the package.
