Volvo Penta V6-250-C SX Aquamatic Gasoline Sterndrive Engine

The Volvo Penta Aquamatic V6-250-C SX is a fully integrated sterndrive package with a 4.3-liter, 6-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine and catalyst, matched to a single-propeller SX drive. A closed freshwater system cools the engine.

Aluminum is used for the cylinder block, cylinder head and cast oil pan, and the pistons are light and low-friction, giving a compact engine-and-drive package that installs more easily. Direct spark-ignition injection supports a high compression ratio, and variable valve timing tailors intake and exhaust valve events to speed and load.

The closed freshwater cooling system keeps seawater out of the engine's internal passages, reducing corrosion. The Easy Drain system empties the raw-water side in a few minutes, with an anti-siphon valve so the boat can remain in the water. Electronic engine control, a lightweight aluminum exhaust, an integrated kick-up function and easy-access service points round out the design.
