Volvo Penta IPS700 Pod Drive System with Twin D8 Engines, 700 HP
The Volvo Penta IPS700 is a 700 HP-class twin-engine propulsion package built on D8-IPS700 marine diesels, each a 7.7-liter inline six rated at 550 HP at 2900 RPM. Forward-facing IPS pod drives with counter-rotating propellers provide the thrust.
The package includes the twin D8 engines, IPS pod drives, EVC controls, steering system and propulsion components, designed as a matched set. Each engine uses common-rail diesel injection with a twin-entry turbocharger plus supercharger, and the underwater components are nickel-bronze-aluminum and stainless steel.
Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) brings joystick docking, dynamic positioning and Glass Cockpit integration, and exhaust is routed through the prop wash. The system is designed for motor yachts and commercial vessels, and emissions compliance covers EPA Tier 3, EU RCD Stage II and IMO NOx Tier II.
