Volvo Penta IPS350 Pod Drive System with Twin D4 Engines, 350 HP
The Volvo Penta IPS350 is a pod-drive package powered by twin D4-260 marine diesels, each a 3.7-liter four-cylinder rated at 260 HP (191 kW) at 3500 RPM. The steerable IPS1 pods carry forward-facing, counter-rotating propellers.
Each D4 uses common-rail fuel injection and a turbocharger with charge-air cooler, and cooling is by heat exchanger. Exhaust is routed through the pods, and soft engine mounts with rubber isolation reduce vibration and noise. The package is aimed at smaller, lighter vessels.
Volvo Penta Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) integrates the engines, pods and helm electronics, providing Joystick Docking, cruise control, Glass Cockpit integration and single-lever engine control with built-in redundancy. Emissions compliance covers EPA Tier 3, EU RCD Stage II and IMO NOx Tier II.
