Volvo Penta IPS1350 Pod Drive System with Twin D13 Engines, 1350 HP
The Volvo Penta IPS1350 pairs twin D13 marine diesels, each rated up to 1000 HP at 2400 RPM, with IPS30 pod drives and counter-rotating propellers. The package is intended for large yachts of about 60 to 120 feet.
Each D13 is a 12.8-liter inline 6-cylinder with a 131 mm bore and 158 mm stroke, a heavy-duty cast-iron block and head, reinforced pistons, camshafts and injectors, electronic unit injectors and dual-stage turbocharging with twin charge-air coolers. Cooling is by heat exchanger.
Rubber-isolated engine mounts and exhaust routed through the pods into the prop wash reduce vibration. The system can be installed as twin, triple or quadruple units, and it includes Volvo Penta EVC with Joystick Docking, the Dynamic Positioning System, Glass Cockpit compatibility and a redundant safety architecture.
