Volvo Penta D8-550 Marine Diesel Engine, 550 HP

The Volvo Penta D8-550 is a 7.7-liter inline 6-cylinder marine diesel rated at 550 HP at 2900 RPM. Common-rail fuel injection, double overhead camshafts and a twin-entry turbocharger with charge-air cooling work under fully integrated electronic engine management.

Typical installations include fast cruisers, patrol boats and light commercial craft. The engine is fully compatible with Volvo Penta Electronic Vessel Control (EVC), giving single-lever throttle and shift, cruise control and engine synchronization, Glass Cockpit integration, and built-in diagnostics and redundancy.
