Volvo Penta D6-435WJ Water Jet Marine Diesel Engine, 435 HP
The Volvo Penta D6-435 Water Jet (D6-435WJ) is a 5.5-liter inline 6-cylinder marine diesel rated at 435 HP (320 kW) at 3500 RPM, configured for water jet propulsion. It combines common-rail injection, double overhead camshafts and a turbocharger with charge-air cooler.
Intended applications include high-speed craft, patrol boats, sport yachts and commercial vessels driven by water jets. The block and head are cast iron, and a balance shaft with tuned engine mounts reduces vibration and noise. Cooling can be by heat exchanger or keel cooling, and fuel consumption is 220 g/kWh.
Recreational installations use Electronic Vessel Control (EVC), while Marine Commercial Control (MCC) serves professional vessels; both tie into navigation, diagnostics and helm systems. Emissions compliance covers EPA Tier 3, EU RCD Stage II and IMO NOx Tier II. Oil fill volume depends on the installation, so follow the official service documentation.
