Volvo Penta D6-435 Marine Diesel Engine, 435 HP

The Volvo Penta D6-435 is a 5.5-liter, 6-cylinder marine diesel delivering 435 HP (320 kW) crankshaft power at 3500 RPM under Rating 5. A turbo and compressor with charge-air cooler feed an electronically controlled common-rail fuel system.

The cylinder block and head are rigid cast iron, and a balance shaft plus an optimized engine suspension reduce noise and vibration. Electronic controls come as standard, service points are easy to reach, a heavy-duty engine cover is fitted and the engine has PTO capability. Cooling is by heat exchanger, with fuel consumption of 220 g/kWh.

Two type-approved control systems are offered: Electronic Vessel Control, which integrates the engines, electronics and optional features, and the open Marine Commercial Control System for integration into a ship's own control system. Instrumentation supports full EVC functionality. Emissions compliance covers IMO NOx Tier II, EU RCD Stage II and EPA Tier 3.
