Volvo Penta D6-400 Aquamatic Sterndrive Marine Diesel Engine, 400 HP

The Volvo Penta D6-400 Aquamatic is a 5.5-liter inline 6-cylinder marine diesel rated at 400 HP at 3500 RPM, packaged with an Aquamatic sterndrive. It uses electronically controlled common-rail injection with a turbo and compressor feeding a charge-air cooler.

This version is built on an aluminum cylinder block and head, with double overhead camshafts. Cooling is freshwater through a heat exchanger, fuel consumption is approximately 219 g/kWh, and emissions compliance covers IMO NOx Tier II, EU RCD Stage II and EPA Tier 3.

The Aquamatic sterndrive provides trim control and is aimed at boats where acceleration, handling and shallow-water use matter. The engine supports Electronic Vessel Control (EVC), optional joystick maneuvering and Glass Cockpit displays, and the Marine Commercial Control System (MCCS) is offered for commercial installations.
