Volvo Penta D4-300 Marine Diesel Engine, 300 HP

The Volvo Penta D4-300 is a 3.7-liter 4-cylinder marine diesel with crankshaft power of 221 kW (300 hp) at 3,500 RPM, at Rating 5. It uses electronically controlled common-rail injection, a turbo with charge air cooler and heat exchanger cooling.

A rigid cast-iron cylinder block and head, an integrated balance shaft and optimized engine suspension keep noise and vibration low in a package that is compact for its swept volume. Fuel consumption is 221 g/kWh.

Control options are Electronic Vessel Control, which integrates engines, electronics and optional features, and the Marine Commercial Control System, an open system for a ship's own controls. PTO capability, a heavy-duty engine cover and accessible service points are part of the design.
