Volvo Penta D4-180 Marine Diesel Engine, 180 HP

The Volvo Penta D4-180 is a 3.7-liter 4-cylinder marine diesel with crankshaft power of 132 kW (180 hp) at 3,500 RPM, at Rating 4. It has electronically controlled common-rail injection, a turbo with charge air cooler and heat exchanger cooling.

A rigid cast-iron cylinder block and head, an integrated balance shaft and optimized engine suspension keep noise and vibration down while the engine stays compact for its swept volume. The control unit monitors several parameters to manage fuel consumption.

Two type-approved control systems are offered: Electronic Vessel Control, which integrates engines, electronics and optional features, and the Marine Commercial Control System, an open system for integration into a ship's controls. PTO capability, a heavy-duty engine cover and easily accessible service points are included in the design.
