Volvo Penta D3-220 Marine Diesel Engine, 220 HP
The Volvo Penta D3-220 is a 2.4-liter in-line 5-cylinder marine diesel rated 220 hp (162 kW) at 4,000 RPM. It has an aluminum block and head, double overhead camshafts, common-rail injection with piezo-electric injectors and a variable geometry turbo.
The D3 series is compact and light, which makes the D3-220 a fit for repowers and new installations where space and weight distribution matter. Volvo Penta Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) provides single-lever throttle and shift, integrated diagnostics and compatibility with modern helm systems.
Standard freshwater cooling through a heat exchanger limits internal corrosion and keeps engine temperatures stable, and with proper servicing the engine is built for a long service life. Fuel is delivered by a common-rail system with piezo-electric injectors.
