Volvo Penta D3-170 Marine Diesel Engine, 170 HP
The Volvo Penta D3-170 is a 2.4-liter in-line 5-cylinder marine diesel rated 170 hp at 4,000 RPM. It has an aluminum block and cylinder head, double overhead camshafts, electronically controlled common-rail injection and a variable geometry turbo with charge-air cooler.
The engine delivers strong torque at low and mid RPM for planing, harbor maneuvering and cruising under load, and suits center consoles, express cruisers and light commercial vessels. The common-rail system continually adjusts injection timing and pressure, with fuel consumption given as approximately 235 g/kWh.
Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) compatibility provides single-lever engine control, Cruise Control, Glass Cockpit compatibility and standard e-Key security. Freshwater cooling with a heat exchanger protects internal parts from saltwater corrosion.
