Volvo Penta D2-75 Marine Diesel Engine, 75 HP
The Volvo Penta D2-75 is a 2.2-liter in-line 4-cylinder marine diesel with crankshaft power of 55 kW (75 hp) at 3,000 RPM. It uses a cam-driven inline injection pump, the Mechanical Diesel Interface control system and standard freshwater cooling.
Dynamic balancing, efficient rubber isolation and an inlet air silencer keep noise and vibration low on board. The rigid block and one-piece cylinder head are built for strength, and the engine delivers high torque at low RPM for maneuvering in a marina, into a head wind or in confined spaces.
Charging is from a 115 A alternator with an electronic sensor, giving more than 35 A at idle and about 100 A at cruising speed. Freshwater cooling reduces internal corrosion and helps the engine hold a consistent working temperature.
