Volvo Penta D2-60 Marine Diesel Engine with Gearbox 8 (HS25A)
A Volvo Penta D2-60 marine diesel engine supplied with an HS25A gearbox, listed as Gearbox 8. The D2-60 is a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder in-line diesel with a cooler air intake, a camshaft-driven in-line injection pump and freshwater cooling.
Low engine speeds, a dynamically balanced design and effective rubber insulation keep vibration in check, and an intake air silencer reduces noise on board. The engine gives high torque at low revs for responsive maneuvering in port, in close quarters or into a headwind, and it is built on a rigid engine block.
Charging is handled by a built-in load-sensing alternator that supplies more than 35 A at idle and roughly 100 A at cruising speed. Freshwater cooling is standard to limit internal corrosion and hold an even operating temperature, and the engine also carries an EVC instrumentation interface with NMEA, a dedicated oil-change tube, a relay-operated starter solenoid and a large-capacity hot water outlet.
