Volvo Penta D2-60 Marine Diesel Engine, 60 HP
The Volvo Penta D2-60 is a 2.2-liter in-line 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated marine diesel rated 60 hp at 3,000 RPM. It uses a mechanical cam-driven inline injection pump, the Mechanical Diesel Interface control system and freshwater cooling.
A dynamically balanced design and rubber isolation mounts reduce vibration and mechanical noise at low cruising RPM, a good fit for sailboats. High torque at low engine speeds supports close-quarters handling, docking and thrust into head winds.
The 115 A alternator supplies more than 35 A at idle and about 100 A at cruising speed for electronics and house batteries. Standard freshwater cooling with a heat exchanger limits internal corrosion and keeps operating temperatures consistent in saltwater.
