Volvo Penta D2-50 Bobtail Marine Diesel Engine
The Volvo Penta D2-50 is a 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder in-line marine diesel engine with a camshaft-driven in-line injection pump and freshwater cooling. In this bobtail form it is supplied without a transmission.
The engine is dynamically balanced and mounted on highly effective rubber insulation, and with its low operating speed and intake air silencer it keeps noise and vibration low on board. It develops high torque at low revs for quick, positive response when maneuvering in port or in tight spaces.
A built-in load-sensing alternator gives more than 35 A at idle and approximately 100 A at cruising speed. Standard freshwater cooling keeps the engine at an even operating temperature and cuts internal corrosion. It also comes with an EVC and NMEA instrumentation interface, a special oil-change tube, a relay-activated starter solenoid and a large-capacity hot water outlet.
