Volvo Penta D1-20 Inboard Marine Diesel Engine, 18 HP
The Volvo Penta D1-20 is an in-line 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated inboard marine diesel of 0.76 liters, rated 13.3 kW (18 hp) at the propeller shaft. It uses a cam-driven in-line injection pump and has freshwater cooling as standard.
Dynamic balancing, rubber isolation and an inlet air silencer keep vibration and noise low at the engine's modest cruising speeds. The rigid block and one-piece cylinder head are built for strength, and the engine is tuned for high torque at low RPM for close-quarters handling in a marina or into a head wind.
The 115 A alternator with a built-in charging sensor delivers more than 35 A at idle and roughly 100 A at cruising speed. Also fitted: Electronic Vessel Control instrumentation with an NMEA interface, a dedicated oil change pipe, a relay-activated starter solenoid and a high-capacity hot water outlet.
