Volvo Penta D1-13 Bobtail Marine Diesel Engine
The Volvo Penta D1-13 is a 0.5-liter, 2-cylinder in-line marine diesel engine with a camshaft-driven in-line injection pump and freshwater cooling. This is the bobtail version, supplied without a transmission.
The engine is dynamically balanced and sits on effective rubber insulation, and together with low operating speed and an intake air silencer this keeps noise and vibration down on board. It delivers strong torque at low revs for responsive maneuvering in harbors and tight spaces.
A built-in load-sensing alternator delivers more than 35 A even at idle and roughly 100 A at cruising speed. Freshwater cooling is standard and holds an even operating temperature while limiting internal corrosion. Equipment also includes an EVC and NMEA instrumentation interface, a dedicated oil-change tube, a relay-activated starter solenoid and a large-capacity hot water outlet.
