Volvo Penta Aquamatic V6-250A-C SX Gasoline Engine and SX Sterndrive

The Volvo Penta Aquamatic V6-250A-C SX is an integrated sterndrive package built around a 4.3-liter, six-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine with a catalyst and closed freshwater cooling. It is paired with a matched SX drive and managed by an electronic engine control system.

The compact engine-and-drive package simplifies installation. An aluminum cylinder block and cylinder head, light low-friction pistons, a cast aluminum oil pan and a lightweight aluminum exhaust system give a favorable power-to-weight ratio. Direct injection allows high compression, and variable valve timing adjusts intake and exhaust valve events to speed and load for strong torque across the rev range.

Easy Drain empties raw water from the engine in a few minutes, and an anti-siphon valve allows this with the boat still in the water. The closed-loop freshwater cooling keeps seawater out of the engine's interior to limit corrosion. The drive has an integrated kick-up function, and service points are placed for easy access.
