Vetus VD4170 Deutz Common-Rail Marine Diesel Engine, 170 HP

The Vetus VD4170 is a D-Line common-rail marine diesel built on a Deutz engine block, rated 125 kW (170 hp) at the flywheel and 120 kW (163 hp) at the propeller shaft. The 6060 cm³ six-cylinder in-line engine turns to 2400 RPM and is designed for heavy displacement boats.

This slow-running six produces 680 Nm of torque at 1600 RPM and is intercooled as standard. It uses a CAN bus with SAE J1939 protocol and can also integrate with NMEA 2000 systems. A water-cooled top cover lowers engine-room heat and engine noise, the exhaust manifold is insulated, electric sump pumps are standard, and a 160 A high-output alternator is supplied with a second alternator as an option.

The standard ZF63 gearbox comes in 1.51, 1.93, 2.48 and 2.78:1 ratios, and the ZF63A and ZF63IV are optional. Instruments include a key switch, tachometer with hour counter, voltmeter, oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge, with an acoustic alarm for oil pressure, temperature, charging current and fresh and raw water. A calorifier kit, PTO for a hydraulic pump, fly-bridge instrument panel and trolling valve can be ordered and fitted as part of a complete package.
