Vetus VD4140 Deutz Common-Rail Marine Diesel Engine, 140 HP
The Vetus VD4140 is a D-Line common-rail marine diesel based on a Deutz engine block, rated 103 kW (140 hp) at the flywheel and 98.9 kW (134.4 hp) at the propeller shaft. The 4040 cm³ four-cylinder in-line engine has a 2400 RPM maximum and is intended for heavy displacement boats.
A slow-running design, it produces 520 Nm of torque at 1600 RPM and is intercooled as standard. Its CAN bus uses the SAE J1939 protocol and can also operate with NMEA 2000 systems on board. A water-cooled top cover cuts engine-room heat and engine noise, the exhaust manifold is insulated, electric sump pumps are standard, and a 160 A high-output alternator is fitted with a second alternator available.
The ZF45 gearbox is standard with 2.2, 2.51 and 3.1 ratios, and the ZF63IV is optional. The instrument set includes a key switch, tachometer with hour counter, voltmeter, oil pressure and temperature gauges, and an acoustic alarm monitors oil pressure, temperature, charging current and fresh and raw water. A calorifier kit, PTO for a hydraulic pump, fly-bridge instrument panel and trolling valve can be ordered and installed when the engine is supplied as a complete package.
