Vetus VD4120 Deutz Common-Rail Marine Diesel Engine, 122 HP
The Vetus VD4120 is a D-Line common-rail marine diesel built on a Deutz engine block, rated 90 kW (122 hp) at the flywheel and 86 kW (117 hp) at the propeller shaft. The 4040 cm³ four-cylinder in-line engine runs to 2400 RPM and is aimed at heavy displacement boats.
This slow-running engine delivers 449 Nm of torque at 1600 RPM and uses intercooling as standard. It communicates over a CAN bus with SAE J1939 protocol and can also work with NMEA 2000 systems on board. A water-cooled top cover reduces engine-room heat and engine noise, the exhaust manifold is insulated, electric sump pumps are fitted as standard and a 160 A high-output alternator comes with the engine, with a second alternator optional.
The standard ZF45 gearbox offers 2.2, 2.51 and 3.1 ratios, with the ZF45A and ZF63IV as options. Instruments comprise a key switch, tachometer with hour counter, voltmeter, oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge, and an acoustic alarm covers oil pressure, temperature, charging current and fresh and raw water. A calorifier kit, PTO for a hydraulic pump, fly-bridge instrument panel and trolling valve can be ordered and fitted when supplied as a complete package.
