Vetus M2.18K Marine Diesel Engine, Keel Cooled Model, 16 HP
The Vetus M2.18K is the keel-cooled model of this two-cylinder M-line marine diesel, rated 11.8 kW (16 hp) at the flywheel and 11.6 kW (15.7 hp) at the propeller shaft. It displaces 635 cm³, turns up to 3600 RPM and comes with a TMC40P gearbox as standard.
Part of the redesigned Vetus M-line, the engine carries a cast aluminum top cover with a water-cooled element that takes up radiant heat from the block. Fuses and relays, the fuel filter and connections, the impeller, the oil dipstick and the oil filter are all placed for easy reach, and a plastic front cover encloses the pulleys and belts in line with the EC Machinery Directive.
An electric fuel pump switches on with the ignition, and the fuel system bleeds itself after a filter change. A redesigned air inlet filter housing damps intake noise, the heat exchanger unit carries 26 revisions to materials and surface treatment, and a high-output marine alternator is standard. Front-mounted oil and fuel filters with a bracket and a calorifier connection kit are optional; ZF12M, ZF15MIV and TMC60A gearboxes are offered as alternatives.
