Vetus M2.18 16 HP Two-Cylinder Marine Diesel Engine
The Vetus M2.18 is a two-cylinder, 635 cm³ M-Line marine diesel engine rated 11.8 kW (16 HP) at the flywheel and 11.6 kW (15.7 HP) at the propeller shaft, with a maximum speed of 3,600 RPM. It uses indirect cooling as standard and is paired with a TMC40P gearbox.
A cast aluminum top cover with a water-cooled element absorbs radiant heat, lowering temperature by up to 15°C according to the maker. Fuses and relays, fuel filter and connections, impeller, dipstick and oil filter are laid out for easy access, the fuel system bleeds itself automatically after a filter change, and an electric fuel pump runs from the ignition switch. A plastic front cover encloses all pulleys and belts to meet the EC Machinery Directive.
The standard gearbox is the TMC40P (2 / 2.60:1), with ZF12M 2.114 / 2.63:1, ZF15MIV 2.13 / 2.99:1 and TMC60A 2 / 2.5:1 as options; M-Line engines can also be supplied with saildrive. Keel cooling, front-mounted oil and fuel filters with bracket, and a calorifier connection kit are optional. The engine meets Recreational Craft Directive 94/25/CE as amended by 2003/44/CE, and warning lights with an audible alarm cover oil pressure, temperatures and charging.
