Suzuki DF4AS2 4 HP Tiller Outboard Motor, 15" Short Shaft
The Suzuki DF4AS2 is a 4 HP single-cylinder outboard with a 15-inch short shaft, tiller steering and manual start. It is sized for canoes, small fishing boats and small to medium tenders and inflatables, and it is saltwater rated.
Its 138 cc OHV engine runs two valves per cylinder with digital CDI ignition and is fed from a built-in 0.26-gallon tank. A full-size twist-grip throttle with tensioner sits on a fold-down tiller handle, and a large starboard-side lever shifts forward, neutral and reverse. Throttle and steering friction are both adjustable, and the motor swings 90 degrees each way for maneuvering in close quarters.
The motor hangs on a rubber-mount bracket and has five trim positions with a tilt lock pin and a two-position shallow water drive. Below-the-water exhaust, an over-rev limiter, an emergency lanyard stop switch and multi-layer corrosion protection are standard. The motor can be stored on its starboard side, port side or front, and turns a 3-blade aluminum propeller of 7.5 in diameter and 6.5 in pitch. A 12V 5A alternator is optional and requires installation.
