Mercury Jet 40ELPT FourStroke Outboard
The Mercury Jet 40ELPT is a 40 HP FourStroke outboard with a jet pump instead of a propeller gearcase, made for running in shallow water. It is set up for remote mechanical steering and has electric start, power trim and tilt, EFI and a 15-inch shaft.
Mounting the pump flush with the underside of the hull lets the boat run in shallows that a standard lower unit cannot reach. Mercury points to the design keeping the area around the engine secure, which is why it is used on rescue boats, and its stainless impeller is meant to withstand abrasive debris such as sand and shells. The four-cylinder motor weighs 267 lbs, and the owner's manual, mounting hardware and a tool kit are included.
