The Mercury 9.9EXLPT ProKicker is a 9.9 HP inline two-cylinder four-stroke kicker outboard with a 25-inch extra-long shaft, remote throttle controls, electric start and power tilt. It has a Command Thrust gearcase and weighs 108 lbs.

As an auxiliary motor it covers trolling-speed control, rests the main engine and acts as a backup. The deeper Command Thrust gearcase drives a 4-blade high-thrust aluminum propeller for authority at trolling speeds, helping a heavier boat plane and hold low speeds. It suits aluminum tiller, inflatable soft hull, utility and sailboats.

The 208 cc engine has a full-throttle range of 5,000 to 6,000 RPM and lists SOHC fuel induction. The Phantom Black motor comes with the Command Thrust 4-blade propeller, a safety lanyard stop switch, a tool kit and the owner's manual.
