A Cummins Onan Marine QD generator, model 17.5MDKDR-8237A, rated 17.5 kW at 50 Hz and 1500 RPM, with a listed voltage of 24 volts. An electronic control system monitors all essential functions, shuts the unit down automatically if a problem occurs and supplies diagnostics.

The set is stopped automatically on high cooling water temperature, high exhaust temperature, low oil pressure, poor cooling water flow, overspeed, a long start time, and low or high AC voltage or AC frequency. These protective shutdowns are intended to prevent damage, and the diagnostics shorten troubleshooting.
